Fly Out Annecy 2013 - Flying in the mountains

The Fly-Out was organised by UPL.

From AVIASPORT the 4 planes (VA, VD, VG and VO) participated. For some of us it was the first flight in the mountains. We enjoyed an extraordinary atmosphere. Small round flight starting from Annecy, were organised in the Alps with landings at “normal usual” aerodromes. Special flights with French Alps instructors around the Mont Blanc with stop-over’s at/or Courchevel, Méribel, Alpe D’Huez, Megève etc. were the highlight of the Fly-Out. 

Last but not least we experienced an extraordinary stay in and around Annecy combined with exciting flights and with gastronomical dinners and local “Haute Savoie” specialities. 

   

Good start for 2014 !

2013 is over and we had unfortunately quite a bad flying weather and had therefore to cancel a number of our well organized fly-outs around Europe. Lets hope that 2014 will bring back the good weather enabling us to share a lot of flying experience.

Flyout Saint-Pierre d`Oléron 2013

The 2013 flying season has some difficulties this year to properly start with the bad weather still persisting even during the month of May. The flyout to Saint-Pierre d`Oléron (LFDP) with its 800Nm return was therefore very shaky due to the weather forecast but at 11am local time, the team on the LX-ATT took off and shortly afterwards all the other teams got ready for taxi.

You can imagine the surprise after not even 15 minutes of flight when the team in the LX-AVO (which left last) contacted the Strasbourg ATC and was asked if they really wanted to continue as the other LX machines were stranded in Verdun (LFGW) and Charleville-Mezières (LFQV) while N422M was returning back to base. Our response then was `we will call you back`. We consulted each other, considered the clouds and decided to continue on our route at 2500ft for a while. The sky finally cleared and the slowest machine nearly made as first on destination. In the end we all had was a very smooth and enjoyable journey.

3 fantastic days on this beautiful island and many thanks again to Pierre and his wife for the great assistance and availability locally and to Bill for the usual perfect organization.

Live your dreams!

How best starting the 2013 season with another great video from our young pilot Lorenzo who is living his dream of flying.

The weather was quite miserable since November 2012 but any opportunity to fly high remains an incredible moment. Many thanks to Lorenzo and enjoy the videos.

Aviasport student flying experience 2012

This is a great collection of various videos taken by Lorenzo during his practice for the PPL licence and afterwards. Beautiful views of the Luxembourg, Bitburg and Koblenz airfields. These are the airporrts were we spend the majority of our practice.

Summer Flying 2012

This video includes a mix of the flying experience during the month of July and August in 2012 with a C172 SP based at the Aéroclub du Roussillon in Perpignan. We flew over a large part of France: Gap Tallard, Arcachon, Grenoble, Mimizan, the French Coast up to Monaco, Cannes, Cuers, Montpellier, La Rochelle and various other smaller fields. San Sebastian and Sabadell were also great destinations.

It is incredible how much you can do and see in one day with a plane. This will remain the best experience and many thanks to Mathieu who joined me on these beautiful destinations.

FlyOut Belle-île-en-Mer 2012

The Aviasport fly-out to Belle-île-sur-Mer in Brittany was probably the best way to end the 2012 flying season. On the last weekend of September filled with sun and blue sky we enjoyed the thrill of the landing in Belle-île on a 660m runway. 10 pilots and 5 planes joined this great fly-out organised by Guy. What an great experience and enjoyable moments under pilots.

Belle-île...we will be back in 2013!

Airfield Hopping 2012

This was Aviasport's first Airfield Hopping organized by our member Pascal Hack. The flyout included a total of 6 airports to fly to in one single day (7 for the LX-AVO team). The LX-AVO, LX-AVG, LX-AVA and LX-AVD joined this successful fly-out with a starting time at 9am local in Luxembourg and return at 8pm. All the pilots and passengers enjoyed the great day that all look forward for next year's edition. Many thanks Pascal.

Flyout Belle-en-Beaune 2012

The fly-out was originally scheduled to take us to Belle-île-en-Mer in the Bretagne. Unfortunately a weather front would have blocked us from getting back safe and we decided to try instead a flight to Beaune in the Bourgogne. 

We quickly rebranded this great flying event to "Belle-en-Beaune" and enjoyed some flying over the vineyards of the Bourgogne. The LX-AVG with Enrico, Silvain & Bernadette and the LX-AVA with Thierry & Bill departed at noon on June 22. 

After just over 1h45 both planes landed in LFGF for 2 great days. The LX-AVD with Pascal & Guy joined the fun on the following day June 23. Another great fly-out of Aviasport.

Flyout Pierrelatte 2012

The 2012 edition of the Pierrelatte fly-out proved again to be Aviasport`s most successful 3 days flying experience to the Drome in the south of France. 

This year a total of 20 people joined this memorable trip starting out in Luxembourg for this 3 days event including visiting, flying and relaxing at the pool of Marguy and Arnold. Enjoy the pictures and the music.

First flight in 2012

We had a quite long winter during 2011/2012 and it was a pleasure in February to finally start the engine again and get in the air after nearly 3 months of grey sky. This is lunch flight from Luxembourg to Trier with a temperature of -10 degrees and some old snow still covering the ground. 


The LX-AVO really enjoyed the cold temperature but unfortunately the heating was quite slow to reach a nice warm temperature and we had to keep on our coats during the flight. It was great flight with a beautiful white sky. Enjoy!

Escapade to Spain 2011

It is becoming a tradition that Bill will fly down to Perpignan in August and from there we chose some new airports and great flying experience in Spain. In 2011 we decided to do a trip around the Pyrenees and chose to stop in Barcelona (Sabadell airport), Pamplona and then Biarritz before returning to Perpignan. The LX-AVG was showing off its new paint and colors. In Pamplona we enjoyed the great open air concert of the famous Kike Suarez.

Flyout Pierrelatte 2011

This was another session of this fantastic fly out to the south of France. The 2011 edition brought unfortunately bad weather and 2 cars had to join the 2 planes. On the Saturday we drove to the Grande Motte next to Montpellier for a flight experience in a Diamond DA40 and a few rounds on the Cap 10 acrobatic plane (with instructor). This was an incredible feeling. Enjoy the pictures.

2010 Souvenirs

This is a collage of the various great events which took place during 2010 at Aviasport in Luxembourg. This is an important year for me (your moderator of this blog) as I passed my PPL and enjoyed flying with my new fellow pilots. I thank them for making this the start of this fantastic (and hopefully very long) journey.

Flyout Balkans 2010

Flightlevel 100 together with Milos Krivokapic organized this incredible trip in the Balkans. Start was in Paris and Luxembourg with meeting point in Wiener Neustadt. From there the 14 planes went to Zagreb, Vrsar, Rovinj, Pula (refueling), Budva and then the crossing of Italy for a beach stop in Elba before flying back to Luxembourg with a last refueling stop in Pierrelatte. Amazing experience with fantastic pilots.

Escapade to Spain in 2010

This is our first small trip to Spain with a start in Perpignan to Zaragoza, Valencia and a last stop in Minorca before returning to Perpignan. Great sceneries and a great experience in the LX-AVG in the original beige-orange colors.

Flyout Corsica 2009

Beautiful trip during the Luxembourg National weekend on June 23 from Luxembourg to Corsica via a stop in Valence to visit the city of the popes. The route took us via St Tropez to the south of Corsica in Bonifacio.
